There’s no question about it: Atlanta is a foodie town. It seems that each year we’re introduced to cuisines from all over the world in this sprawling city. And while some restaurants flounder under pressure, some become staples to our local community and travelers alike.
According to the Thrillist online publication, 2015 was a great year for food! They even created a recap of the year’s best Atlanta restaurants, and needless to say, we were impressed with their choices (we are writing a blog about it, after all)! Here are a few that stood out.
The Best Foods to Come Out of 2015 in Atlanta
Brunch that can’t be beat
Who doesn’t love brunch? From bottomless mimosas to a the perfect balance of sweet and savory, brunch is a Sunday staple in Atlanta. For best new brunch of 2015, Thrillist chose Emory Point’s General Muir—and we definitely agree! It’s like a little slice of New York City in Atlanta, with menu items including “The Maven” lox plate, matzoh ball soup, NY deli-style sandwiches, and of course, the made fresh daily bagels.
The tastiest taco
Cheese, meat, salsa, tortilla…there’s not much to making a taco, right? Wrong! To taste the taco all other local tacos are jealous of, head to Bone Garden Cantina. With authentic flavors and a colorful setting, you’ll feel like you just walked into the heart of Mexico. Their traditional, flavor-packed meat marinades ensure each bite is out-of-this-world—even before you smother your meal with fresh guacamole or one of their homemade salsas. Forget “Taco Tuesday;” you’ll want to hit this spot for lunch every day.
Best new restaurant
One of the best new restaurants in Atlanta is the Staplehouse, thanks to their top-notch gourmet menu and their unique business model. After tax, all of Staplehouse’s profits go to benefit The Giving Kitchen, an organization that gives emergency assistance to Atlantan restaurant workers during crisis. Their delicious menu is always rotating, and you can take satisfaction in both your dining experience and the fact that you are helping a great cause. How cool is that?!
Advanced Aesthetics’ Top Pics
Though the previously mentioned restaurants took home Thrillist’s Best of 2015 Awards, there are a few honorable mentions that we feel shouldn’t be missed!
An iconic classic: The Varsity
If you’re wondering where to eat in Atlanta, you certainly cannot miss the most classic restaurant of all: The Varsity. It’s been a staple to the city since its opening in 1928, for good reason! When you walk in you’re smacked in the face with the aroma of the American Dream, and you can’t go wrong with a hot dog and homemade fries! Don’t forget to finish it off with a Frosted Orange drink for a sweet ending to a great meal.
Swoon at 4th & Swift
If you’re ready to have the best meal of your life and are willing to spend the money for it, we can’t recommend 4th & Swift enough. This restaurant will please your palate with local ingredients, seasonal flavors, and unique combinations. If you want to impress and truly spoil your sweetie, head here on Valentine’s Day. Be sure to make your reservations now, as we’re sure spots will fill up fast.
