Many people have excess fat pockets that can have an unflattering effect on their body contours. Some fat can be eliminated with diet and exercise, but a healthy lifestyle can only help to a certain extent. It can be frustrating when fat refuses to budge and loose skin refuses to shrink despite hard work and good habits. If you would like to get rid of stubborn fat and enhance your body contours, BodyTite® may be able to help.

BodyTite® is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a combination of radiofrequency energy and liposuction technology to liquefy and remove excess fat and tighten the skin.

How Is the BodyTite® Procedure Done?

Model

Anesthesia

A local anesthetic is applied to numb the target areas and ensure your comfort during the procedure.

Delivery of Radiofrequency Energy

A thin probe is inserted under the skin through a tiny incision. An external electrode on the surface of the skin creates an electrical circuit with the internal probe. The temperature of the target area is monitored for safety and efficacy.

The radiofrequency energy heats the target area, which tightens the connective tissues under the skin and causes the skin to contract. This process also liquefies the fat cells in the area.

Fat Removal

As they are heated, the fat cells begin to loosen and break down, which allows them to be easily and gently removed from the body. A small cannula (hollow tube) is carefully inserted beneath the skin and used to remove the liquefied fat cells.

You may be a good candidate for BodyTite® if you:

  • Are in overall good health
  • Have mild to moderate loose skin
  • Want to remove a small or moderate amount of stubborn fat

A consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons in Fayetteville, Newnan, McDonough, or LaGrange is the best way to determine if BodyTite® is a good fit for you. During your consultation, you will get a chance to share all your goals and expectations for the procedure. You will also be evaluated so your surgeon can advise you on whether BodyTite® can achieve your goals.

To prepare for your BodyTite® procedure, you will be advised to:

  • Not smoke
  • Not drink alcohol
  • Avoid certain medications
  • Discuss any concerns with your surgeon

Your surgeon will give you detailed instructions on how to prepare for your procedure. Following these instructions is essential for reducing the risk of complications during and after your procedure.

No, BodyTite® is not a weight loss procedure and cannot be used to remove significant amounts of fat or treat obesity. BodyTite® can remove a moderate amount of fat and aid in skin tightening, but if more extensive correction is needed, a surgical liposuction procedure may be necessary. Liposuction cannot tighten loose or stretched skin, so many patients benefit from combining BodyTite® and liposuction together.

While BodyTite® is highly effective and can boost the body’s metabolism of fat, your results can be affected by major weight fluctuations. The fat cells eliminated with BodyTite® will be gone permanently, but weight gain can cause the remaining fat cells to increase in size. If you would like to maintain your BodyTite® results, you should follow a healthy diet and consistent exercise routine.

While the radiofrequency energy of BodyTite® can provide skin tightening, it cannot eliminate severely stretched or sagging skin. Those who have experienced significant weight loss often need a body lifting procedure such as tummy tuck surgery, arm lift surgery, an inner thigh lift, or an outer thigh lift.

CoolSculpting® eliminates small pockets of fat non-surgically. The CoolSculpting® technology freezes fat, and then the body naturally eliminates the dead cells through metabolic processes. BodyTite®, on the other hand, is considered minimally invasive because small incisions are used to remove the fat directly once it is liquefied with radiofrequency technology.
