Mommy Makeover in Atlanta, GA

mommy makeover atlanta

You wouldn’t trade being a mom for anything in the world. But you might be more than willing to trade the effects that pregnancy can have on your body — sagging skin, drooping breasts and stubborn baby weight — to get your pre-baby body back. If you’re unhappy with the changes that having children has made to your body, you’re certainly not alone. The good news is that there is something you can do about it.

A lot of moms are choosing to have body and breast contouring surgery, affectionately called a “mommy makeover,” to help reverse some of these unwelcome changes and to once again see the body that they had before their pregnancy or pregnancies. A mommy makeover can help you feel more confident in and out of clothing, and can even help you fit into the pre-baby wardrobe you thought you’d never be able to wear again.

What is a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover is not a single, standardized procedure. Our goal is to help you get your natural and unique body back, not give you cookie-cutter results. During your consultation with one of our skillful and experienced plastic surgeons, we will listen carefully to your concerns and customize your procedure to make exactly the right changes to achieve your aesthetic goals. Most women would like to improve the shape and fullness of their breasts, restore a flatter, tighter tummy and get rid of excess skin and fat deposits that won’t respond to diet or exercise. A mommy makeover most often combines a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast lift and liposuction to achieve these goals.

Is a mommy makeover right for me?

Since a mommy makeover is such a highly customizable set of surgeries, we at Advanced Aesthetics known that there is a perfect combination of cosmetic procedures to restore any mother’s confidence and glow. The main consideration for the mommy makeover procedure is timing. In general, you should wait until you are finished having children and finished breastfeeding; the results from certain mommy makeover procedures, such as breast enhancement and abdominoplasty, can be negatively affected by natural changes in the body during pregnancy.

In addition, depending on your procedure, your recovery time may take a few weeks — if you are typically in charge of childcare, it is important to ensure that you have your surgery at a time when you can arrange for help around the house while you heal. However, there’s no reason to wait too long to enjoy your newly restored body, not to mention the confidence of having a beautifully toned, more youthful figure. What’s most important is that you’re ready to do this for you.

We invite you to call for a complimentary consultation with one of the expert plastic surgeons at Advanced Aesthetics. Our surgical coordinators will speak with you on your first phone call to ask and answer any initial questions, and then they will help you schedule a consultation at one of our convenient locations in Fayetteville, McDonough, Newnan or LaGrange. You will meet our friendly surgeons, who will discuss your concerns, your goals and your options as well as the risks and benefits of the procedures you want.

Your Mommy Makeover Procedure

A mommy makeover typically includes:

  • A tummy tuck to address abdominal skin and muscle distention
  • Liposuction to reduce belly, hip, buttock and thigh fat
  • A breast lift to combat sagging and stretch marks
  • A breast augmentation with implants to restore breast volume and improve shape

These procedures are typically “mixed and matched” to meet your needs — for example, some women do not need a full tummy tuck to contour their abdomen, and others may find that their breast shape and volume is restored without a need for implants. Some women also choose to add other surgical or non-surgical procedures like a labiaplasty or laser skin resurfacing to address other concerns. All of our board-certified plastic surgeons are experienced and skilled in the procedures involved. Our team will help you decide which options are right for you during your initial appointments.

Another perk of choosing a “mommy makeover” instead of several individual procedures is that you will only need to spend a single day in surgery. Whichever combination of procedures you choose, your surgeon or surgeons will perform them all at once to save you multiple trips into surgery and multiple recovery periods, as well as extra anesthesia and recovery costs. We know that moms are busy — we find that this approach makes it much easier to say yes to your mommy makeover, especially for women who want their bodies back but do not want to take too much time away from their families.

Mommy Makeover Results and Recovery

All of our surgeries, including our mommy makeovers, are performed by our expert surgeons at our state-of-the-art, fully licensed and certified Surgi-Center in Fayetteville, Georgia. We typically use general anesthesia and intravenous sedation for our mommy makeover clients, inducing a gentle, painless sleep that keeps comfortable throughout the surgery. If you choose an epidural, this will continue to keep you free from pain as you awaken from your surgery. You will need to spend about 60 minutes in our recovery room before you go home. You will also need to ensure that a trusted friend or family member is available to drive you home from your surgery since you will not be able to drive yourself.

We will ensure that you are equipped to stay comfortable when you return home, using monitored time-release medication or other pain relief technologies. You should plan on taking approximately two weeks away from work and daily activities like walks or running errands. You should make sure that you have arranged for appropriate help around the house, including childcare, for at least one week after your surgery. You should limit strenuous activities like heavy lifting or exercise for a few more weeks until your surgeon approves you to resume them. In approximately six weeks you will be ready for your post-op pictures. If you have any questions during your recovery, we encourage you to contact our offices right away. Complications from cosmetic surgeries are rare, but if you feel as though something might be wrong, it is always best to talk directly to your surgeon about your concerns.

Scheduling your recovery can be one of the most difficult aspects of choosing a mommy makeover, and our surgeons and coordinators are always happy to be flexible and find a time that best fits into your life. The details of your recovery will depend on the procedures that are included in your mommy makeover, so we will be sure to discuss your particular timeline and needs after your surgery plan has been created. We’ll answer all of your questions and make sure you have the information you need to arrange childcare, take time off of work, and prepare for surgery so you can enjoy the most stress-free recovery possible. We believe that every mother should be able to feel as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside, and it is our mission to create a seamless mommy makeover experience.
