Breast Implant Surgery in Atlanta

Advanced Aesthetics is one of the top providers of breast implants in Atlanta and the state of Georgia. We have extensive experience with both silicone gel and saline-filled implants and are happy to help you make the decision about which implant is right for you.

During your private consultation with one of our Board Certified plastic surgeons at Advanced Aesthetics, you will get to feel each type of implant and review the projection options. Our physicians help each patient determine which type, size, and shape of implant is right for her.

If you are concerned about the safety of breast implants, rest assured: Breast implants are now the most-studied medical device in human history.

As you may be aware, the FDA made a recommendation to the Allergan Company (formerly McGhan) to recall any and all macro-textured breast implant devices. As always, Advanced Aesthetics’ primary concern is the safety of our patients. As a reminder, the FDA is NOT making a recommendation to have already implanted devices removed at this point. However, macro-textured implants or tissue expanders will not be inserted going forward. We are welcoming any of our patients or any new patients to please call us with any questions so we can provide you with the latest updates. We would also ask you to consider making an appointment to discuss any concerns in more detail.

Silicone Gel Breast Implants

Silicone gel implants have a more natural feel. The newest generation of silicone gel implants has a thicker shell and a more cohesive gel, making this generation of implants the safest yet. The risk of rupture is now as low as 1% in the first 6 years. Silicone gel implants are:

  • FDA approved
  • Filled with silicone gel to a set volume
  • Designed to have a uniform shape and offer the feel of natural breast tissue
  • Available with different projection options to suit every body type
  • Generally more expensive than saline-filled implants

Saline-Filled Breast Implants

Saline-filled implants require a smaller incision and are less expensive. The risk of deflation is 3% in the first 3 years and 10% in the first 10 years. Deflation poses no medical risk since they are filled with saline fluid, the same saline fluid that is used in an IV. Deflation is easily detected and does not require an expensive MRI for diagnosis. Saline-filled implants are:

  • FDA approved
  • Filled with a saltwater solution by the surgeon to achieve just the right size
  • Saline, similar to natural body fluids, offers a firmer feel than silicone
  • Available with different projection options to suit every body type
  • Generally less expensive than silicone gel implants

Both implant types come with a manufacturer’s warranty for rupture or deflation. If an implant ruptures or deflates within the first ten years, the manufacturer will replace the implant for free and contribute money towards the cost of exchanging the implant. After ten years, the manufacturer will replace the implant for free.
