Brow Lift in Atlanta

Your goal has always been to age gracefully, but lately, you’re feeling like Mother Nature and Father Time have other plans for you. You’re noticing deepening frown lines and forehead lines, and your brows seem to be falling lower over your eyes. It can be frustrating to think that, despite your best efforts to keep your skin young and healthy, you can’t really control what happens to your appearance as you age. You might be worried, saddened or embarrassed by these signs of aging on your brow; you might even be feeling less self-confident or happy with yourself.

At Advanced Aesthetics, we never want our clients to feel like they have to live their lives feeling less than 100% comfortable with who they are and how they look. We know that noticing signs of aging like a sagging brow or forehead wrinkles can change the way you see your reflection, and we want to help you get back to feeling excited about how you look in the mirror. When it comes to improving the appearance of the forehead, our expert, board-certified plastic surgeons perform brow lift surgeries with incredible results. We also offer a variety of non-surgical treatments that might help accomplish your goals. Our team is here to guide you through the options available to you regarding a brow lift in Atlanta, and to help you craft a treatment plan that’s customized just for you.

Is a Brow Lift Right for Me?

A brow lift is a great option for people who have significant aesthetic concerns around the forehead, brow bone and upper eyelids. Some of the significant concerns that a brow lift can address include:

  • Frown lines between the brows
  • Transverse wrinkles across the forehead
  • Lowered or drooping eyebrows
  • Sagging or drooping upper eyelids

Modern aesthetic medicine has reached a point where many smaller concerns of the brow can be addressed with less invasive methods, such as Botox or dermal fillers. However, some individuals find that these treatments don’t offer the long-lasting results they want, or that they don’t provide enough correction to keep the forehead looking smooth and youthful. If you want a one-time solution to your brow concerns, you might be more interested in an Atlanta brow lift surgery than in short-term non-surgical alternatives.

In addition, most injectable treatments cannot offer a solution to a drooping brow or sagging upper eyelids. If your concerns extend beyond wrinkles and fine lines, a brow lift might be a better option so that you can address everything with a single procedure. If your eyelid concerns are extensive, you may also be interested in combining your brow lift with an upper blepharoplasty, or upper eyelid surgery — this is a very common choice that can save you surgical costs and recovery time by avoiding having the two procedures performed separately.

A brow lift might not be right for you if you have concerns that extend beyond the brow, such as wrinkles or sagging skin around the mouth and cheeks, or loose skin at the jowls and neck. In these cases, a full facelift or a combined face and neck lift might make more sense for you — these options will ensure that your results look balanced and you have a more youthful appearance overall.

Alternatively, a brow lift in Atlanta might be more than you need if your concerns are not very extensive. At Advanced Aesthetics, we want to offer our clients the safest option that will deliver the results they want. You may find that injectable treatments are a better choice at this stage of your life, or that you only need an upper blepharoplasty to accomplish your goals.

In order to find out for certain which procedure or set of procedures will be the best choice for your needs, you should schedule an in-person consultation with one of the Advanced Aesthetics surgeons. Their one-on-one evaluation and advice will help you understand your options more clearly.

Your Brow Lift Procedure

A brow lift smooths the forehead by removing the small facial muscles that cause deep frown lines between the eyebrows, and repositioning the eyebrows and forehead muscles to a more lifted and relaxed position. It is performed similarly to a facelift, but it only focuses on the upper half of the face — in fact, some surgeons refer to a brow lift as an upper facelift. During a brow lift, your surgeon creates incisions along the hairline and at the temples to gain access to the problematic underlying facial structures.

Your surgeon will use small tools to reach beneath the skin of your brow to address any problems with the underlying muscles. Tense facial muscles are a common cause of forehead wrinkles, so removing or repositioning these muscles can restore a smooth and relaxed expression to your brow.

You may also have some loose or stretched skin in the area, especially if you are noticing that your eyebrows appear to be falling lower over your eyes. In these cases, your surgeon may trim some of the excess skin before suturing the incisions. This lifts the skin of your brow up and allows it to lay flat across your brow bone and forehead, but does not raise your brows to an unnaturally high position. Any resulting scars typically heal flat and are well-hidden along the hairline. If you have elected to combine your brow lift with an upper blepharoplasty, your surgeon will also make very small incisions in the skin of your eyelids. They will remove a small amount of your upper eyelid skin, which lifts the lid and prevents it from sagging down over your eye.

Your surgeon then sutures the skin back into place, leaving you with eyelid skin that no longer appears droopy or wrinkled. Any scarring will be hidden within your natural eyelid folds, and you will notice that your eyes seem more open and awake and that it gives your whole forehead a more lifted appearance.

We perform all of our brow lift surgeries at our state-licensed and certified Surgi-Center, conveniently located outside of Atlanta. We typically use general anesthesia to keep our brow lift patients comfortable, though you may choose local anesthesia depending on your particular surgical plan. You will need to arrange for a trusted friend or family member to transport you to and from your surgery and to be present while your surgeon reviews aftercare information. After your procedure, you will spend 30–60 minutes in our recovery room, and then you will be discharged home to begin your recovery.

Brow Lift Recovery and Results

The procedure itself will cause minimal discomfort — you will be under anesthesia and won’t feel any pain. We will also supply you with a prescription for pain management medication or recommend an over-the-counter option to keep you comfortable as you begin your recovery at home.

Brow lift patients will need to plan for at least one week away from work or normal daily activities. You will experience some swelling and discoloration at the surgical site(s), and since the face is very visible, you may not feel comfortable going out in public until you have healed sufficiently. You will have regularly scheduled follow-up appointments with your Advanced Aesthetics surgeon, who will monitor your healing progress and inform you when you can return to activities like exercising or styling your hair with heat.

After six weeks, you will be nearly fully healed and will be ready for post-op pictures. All residual swelling, redness and bruising will have subsided, and your scars will be beginning to flatten. You’ll see a marked improvement in your upper face — your brow will look smoother, your eyes will appear more open and energetic and your eyebrows won’t look heavy or drooping. Our expert surgeons will ensure that these effects are achieved with subtlety, so you’ll look younger and well-rested rather than overdone. Results of a brow lift will last for several years, and with good skin care practices, you will be able to enjoy the slowed effects of aging for the rest of your life.
