Young Man Uses Selfies to Document Recovery After Reconstructive Plastic Surgery

Posted in News, Plastic Surgery

ABC7 Eyewitness News recently reported on the recovery of a young man after reconstructive plastic surgery. The young man, Alan Crowley, had been taking a “selfie” each day until he was severely injured in an unprovoked attack. With extreme lacerations on his face from the attack, Crowley needed reconstructive surgery to minimize scarring and allow the healing to begin.

After surgery, Alan resumed his photo project and his results over the course of seven months were nothing short of amazing. What is remarkable about Alan’s photo project, is that he didn’t hide from the world. Even in the face of adversity he persevered and chose to be a glowing example of how reconstructive surgery can help you reclaim your identity and is an important part of the healing process, not only physically, but emotionally as well.

Crowley said he posted the video to, “show people that while damage after surgery/an assault may look bad initially, after months of healing the scars dramatically improve.”

Alan’s story of recovery is a light at the end of the tunnel for those who have significant damage and are seeking reconstructive surgery.
